James brings a distinguished career in private club leadership, having spent decades serving some of the most respected clubs in the Northeast while earning a reputation for thoughtful leadership, operational excellence, and a deep appreciation for club culture and tradition. Throughout his career, he has successfully guided organizations through strategic planning initiatives, facility improvements, governance discussions, and long-term organizational development, always with a focus on enhancing the member experience.
Since transitioning from club management to consulting, James has worked closely with a variety of country, city, yacht, and sporting clubs, helping boards and leadership teams navigate important decisions and position their organizations for future success. His practical approach, combined with decades of hands-on executive experience, allows him to provide clubs with trusted guidance on governance, operations, and strategic priorities.
At The Club Council, James will collaborate with the firm’s partners and senior consultants to support clubs in the areas of strategic planning, governance, operational effectiveness, leadership development, and executive search.
